For her homework assignment, SPARK blogger Shanzeh investigated the October 2011 issue of Teen Vogue. Her findings will probably not surprise you. She writes:

Every green post-it represents an image of a white girl. Every yellow post-it represents an image of one woman of color.  Total pictures of white girls: 150. Total pictures of WOC: 27. White, skinny, perfect looking girls are mostly shown: 

I actually found it hard to spot women of color because most of them were whitewashed! 

As a WOC myself, I couldn’t find a SINGLE girl who looked like me

All women are diverse, but sadly Teen Vogue doesn’t show that diversity.

We’ve done our homework. Now, as a magazine for teenage girls, it’s your turn to start showing girls as they really are!
